Trichloroethylene was classified as a human carcinogen by the EPA and by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, and the EPA has finalized a rule banning it under the Toxic Substances Control Act. Portions of that rule covering industrial uses remain in litigation before the Third Circuit. This note describes the regulatory status of TCE, not a health claim about any CHAOS product.
