Wheel-weight prep methods
Stick-on weights hold when the adhesive reaches a clean, dry, bare surface.

The bond problem
Stick-on wheel weights use pressure-sensitive adhesive. The weight only reaches the wheel when overspray, wheel polish, road grime, mold release, mounting lube, oil, and moisture are out of the way.
A cleaner can remove visible dirt and still leave the wrong surface behind. The prep step is finished when the mounting area is clean, fully dry, and free of residue.
Four shop habits
The name on the bottle matters less than what the method leaves behind.
CHAOS does not make or sell brake cleaner. Prep N Stick replaces the habit of borrowing it for wheel-weight preparation.
The method

Wet the exact mounting area.

Lift the contamination with a clean wipe.

Apply only after the surface is fully dry.

Milder chemistry
Water-based, low-VOC, non-flammable adhesion prep. It takes longer to dry than Quick Dry and still leaves the wheel ready for the weight.
Both formulas are safe for wheel finishes, including custom paint and clear coats. Follow the product label and safety data sheet for handling and PPE.
When prep earns its keep
Paint and clear coat need contamination removed without hazing the finish.
Mold release can sit on a new wheel even when the surface looks clean.
Invisible moisture is still a barrier between adhesive and wheel.
Lube, oil, fingerprints, and dressing quietly weaken the bond.

Quick answers
Brake cleaner was designed for a different job, formulas vary, and the surface left behind is not consistent for adhesive prep. CHAOS does not make or sell brake cleaner.
Quick Dry is acetone-based and flashes fastest. Original Prep N Stick is water-based, low-VOC, non-flammable, and takes longer to dry.
Yes. Both are made for wheel-weight preparation and are safe for finishes including custom paint and clear coat.
Moisture and residue sit between the pressure-sensitive adhesive and the wheel. The weight needs direct contact with a clean, dry mounting surface.
