01 / Formula map

Three products. Two chemistries.

Prep N Stick comes in two formulas that share a name and almost nothing else. One is water-based and mild. Quick Dry is acetone and flammable. Bubble Check is a water-based leak detector. Confusing them is the mistake this page exists to prevent.

Prep N Stick Quick Dry

The fast wheel-prep formula. Its advantage is evaporation speed. It is not the mild one.

DOT UN1090, Hazard Class 3. Keep away from ignition sources and handle per the SDS.
Solvents
Contains no trichloroethylene and no perchloroethylene.
Finishes
Safe for all wheel finishes, including custom paint and clear coats.

The claim we will not makeQuick Dry is not "safer for the technician." It is flammable acetone. The accurate claim is narrower: it contains none of the carcinogen that was restricted.

Non-flammable / diagnostic

Bubble Check

Water and a low-foam surfactant. It stays flat until escaping gas makes the leak visible.

It freezes. There is no glycol. Store between 40F and 90F.

Two things we will not pretend to know.

The Bubble Check surfactant

Its identity is withheld by the formulator as a trade secret. We can publish the concentration range, pH, flash point, and behavior. We cannot publish the molecule.

The current GHS classification

The technical data sheet and safety data sheet do not agree. Until they are reconciled, use conservative PPE guidance: eye protection, gloves, and normal ventilation.
