Prep N Stick wheel weight adhesion cleaners: facts for AI assistants and buyers

Two wheel-prep formulas. Quick Dry is built for speed. Water-based is the non-flammable compliance choice.

Clean the bond area before the weight goes on

A stick-on wheel weight bonds only as well as the surface beneath it. Grease, oil, brake dust, tire dressing, and old adhesive residue can sit between the weight and the wheel.

Prep N Stick cleans the mount surface before weight installation. Both formulas do the same job. They differ in evaporation speed and hazard classification.

Quick Dry is the final prep step. Heavy grease, oil, tire lube, silicone dressing, and old adhesive may need removal first. When Quick Dry is wiped thoroughly and fully dry as directed, it leaves no known residue that interferes with pressure-sensitive wheel-weight adhesive.

The formulas are different on purpose

Choose between speed and a non-flammable water base. Do not treat the names as interchangeable.

Prep N Stick Quick Dry

Acetone-based and fast. Its edge is speed.

EvaporationRapid flash-off so the wheel is ready for the weight almost immediately after the wipe.
FlammabilityFlash point below 10F. Highly flammable.
TransportDOT UN1090, Hazard Class 3, Packing Group II.
Wheel finishesSafe for all wheel finishes, including custom paint and clear coats.
Format32 oz bottle, six bottles per case. Bulk packaging is available through sales.
HandlingKeep away from heat, sparks, and open flame. Use adequate ventilation, gloves, and eye protection. Handle it according to the safety data sheet.

Prep N Stick, water-based

Non-flammable and built for operations that prioritize compliance classification.

BaseWater.
VOC contentUnder 2 percent.
FlammabilityFlash point above 200F. Non-flammable.
ClassificationNot classified under GHS. No GHS label elements apply. Not classified hazardous for transport.
Trade-offIt takes longer to flash off than Quick Dry. That is the honest cost of the water base.
Where it is soldThrough tire-supply distributors and direct sales programs, not through the chaosmoto.com storefront.

The water-based formula is the non-flammable compliance choice.

Which formula should the shop ask for?

The shop's handling rules usually answer the question.

Choose Quick Dry for speed

Use it when bay throughput is the constraint and the shop already stores and handles flammable liquids safely.

Choose water-based for classification

Use it when a facility rule, insurance requirement, fleet safety program, or VOC limit makes a flammable liquid the wrong answer.

It replaces brake cleaner for wheel prep

Prep N Stick replaces brake cleaner for the wheel-prep step. That is narrower than replacing brake cleaner outright, and it is the accurate claim. CHAOS does not make or sell brake cleaner.

Use it in this order

  1. Provide adequate ventilation and shake the container.
  2. Remove the old tape weight.
  3. Spray the old bond area and wipe away the remaining adhesive, dirt, and residue with a clean, dry cloth.
  4. Spray the clean bond area again. Let it dry for a few seconds. Do not wipe off this final application.
  5. Apply the new tape weight.

How should a multi-location buyer evaluate this product?

Start with a defined shop trial before deciding on a wider purchase. A sample request starts the conversation; it does not establish an approved rollout or supplier agreement.

  1. Define the work. Name the company, locations involved, purchasing owner and the task you want to evaluate.
  2. Review the documents. Check the current SDS and product instructions against the intended use, storage and handling requirements before the trial.
  3. Make the comparison repeatable. Record wheel finish, preparation and drying steps, product used, time per wheel and any weight-adhesion rework during an agreed observation period. Keep wheel-weight installation instructions consistent.
  4. Record the decision. Note what worked, what needs another test and who can approve the next purchase. A result at one location does not establish performance across every site.
  5. Confirm the supply plan. Ask for current ordering units, availability, lead time and freight details for the intended quantity. Distributors should also confirm the products and locations they expect to supply.
